You need credit repair. You just found the perfect place to start!
So, what is Credit Repair Judo? Let me tell you my story first. I started this website after going through the process of fixing my bad credit. My credit situation was so bad I was afraid to even get my credit report or know what my credit score was. For several years I lived on a cash basis because I was terrified of even asking for credit.
How Did I Get Bad Credit?
That’s all on me. Like a lot of people, I was offered a lot of credit cards at a young age. I also used student loans to finance my education and my living expenses for those years. To say I was not smart with my credit choices would be an understatement.
I didn’t charge things with the intention of never paying them back. I charged things and took out student loans because I believed that some day soon when I grew up and got a real job I would be making so much money that I would be able to pay off the debt I incurred.
Well. . . I didn’t grow up, but I did get a real job and I soon found out I wasn’t drowning in dollar bills at the end of the day. My expectations and understanding of debt and personal finance was so unrealistic it was dangerous. It snowballed from there. Once I fell behind, I started asking for more credit, shifting balances from one card to another, and eventually hobbling along on minimum payments.
Finally, I just gave up and started not paying. This started a life of ducking collections calls and trying to stay off the grid.
No big deal, right? I don’t need credit from those people. I’ll just pay as I go.
Well, that went o.k. for awhile. . . until I needed to move and get a new job. Soon enough, I found out I was getting denied jobs and apartments because of my bad credit. That started a long period of raging against the machine and getting angry. Despite my best efforts, anger and indignation did not improve my credit score.
I was tired of fighting. I was tired of hiding.
My Credit Repair Epiphany
Then it struck me. Maybe I could fix my credit score. . .
Nah. Too much work. It would never happen. My credit was ruined for life. Why even bother.
Two more years passed. I didn’t try to fix anything, but that moment of inspiration stuck with me. Slowly I dipped my toe into researching what it would take to fix my credit. I started to learn the rules of the game.
Two years later I got a loan and bought a house in the post-financial crash era. I about fell out of my chair. It didn’t take two years for my credit to get better, but that was the highlight for me. Realizing a goal I thought was out of reach forever. It’s not about perfect credit scores or zero balances. The best scores and balances are the ones that allow you to live the life you want to live.
Credit Repair Meets Judo
Credit repair is what you need to do when you get turned down for a job, an apartment, or a loan because your credit is too low. This is hard if you don’t know how. It can be impossible if you are frozen by fear, shame or apathy. I am going to show you how to do this despite these things.
Judo is a martial art. Translated it means “the gentle way.” One of the principles of judo is that a stronger opponent will always win if you try to attack with strength alone. Levers, balance and movement are used by a smaller person to defeat a larger opponent.
Your credit score is an opponent much larger than you. There are three very large corporations responsible for the credit reporting system in the United States. In addition, the entire banking and business industry are their customers. The credit system is a major part of our national economy.
It’s not going away soon. You are not going to improve your credit by writing a hundred angry letters or threatening to file lawsuits against these huge companies. You can’t attack strength with strength.
The levers, balance, and movement you are going to use to repair your credit is what this website is about. Simple steps, actions, laws and knowing the rules of the game.
The process begins here with Step One. So jump right in. Let’s get started!
